The Ethnic Side Up!

I am a True Bong and I am totally proud of it! You must be thinking, what made me write this out of nowhere, right? Well, all credits goes to our very own “Piku” – the movie that was a refreshing change amidst all the mainstream drama – Simple and Beautiful!  Every minuscule frame in this movie was so organically shot & pictured that every scene seemed so authentic to me. And how aesthetically was the Bengali Culture captured – The Food, the Traditions and boy oh boy – The Dressing up Bit! & that’s exactly where I draw my inspiration for this blog post.

I’ve realized that in our en-devour to dress up in a specific way for work, we always abandon our ethnic wears somewhere beyond our remembrance and reach ; and the fact that our way of dressing up for formal affairs is often tinted with what others perceive to be smart and office appropriate. Not that I am saying that Smart Trousers & Blazer aren’t #corporatechic but all I am trying to elaborate here is that those are not the only ones!

Smart Crisp Cotton Kurtas with beautiful embroideries, stiff, stand-up collars and those pure silk dupattas (aka stoles) in sheer cream tone, isn’t that the a fabulous combination! It in fact can give all those blazers a run for their money. The look when complimented with dark ‘kolhed’ eyes and a pair of statement ear-rings totally will speak CLASS and  can totally take you from your board meetings to dinner with your friends without any hitch.

For this look, I chose to pair up one of my basic palazzo in black with a very old and favorite Red Kurta I’d bought ages ago. Totally kohled up my eyes and added a pair of statement ear-ring and a black ring to finish my look.

Well, that’s it for this time from our end. Let us know in the comments section below how you found the whole look, we would love to know your feedback on it!

Until the next time,

Loads of Love,

Urvashi

Yeah, I do understand the constraints of wearing the Indian Style while in Melbourne, but I recently read that the Indian Style of wearing Kurtas with Churidars is now being incorporated there as Long tops with side slits with pencil pants and has quite become a rage. 🙂 🙂 Would love to see you do a post on that, I am sure you’ll make it look as Chic as you…
      Love,
